Is Synthetic Marijuana usage safe and what are the negatives and positives?

You see your friends posting on social media pics or videos of them smoking Synthetic Marijuana. You see they’re having a good time and stuff, but do you even know what Synthetic Marijuana is? Synthetic Marijuana is a plant known as Cannabis that’s been around for a very long time. However, the initial plant has been messed with so much since that Synthetic Marijuana can actually be dangerous to the body. The safest way to smoke Synthetic Marijuana would be by buying it yourself at a store. The most risky and dangerous way to smoke Snythetic Marijuana is by taking it off of a friend or someone you don’t know. Is smoking Synthetic Marijuana ok to do? Smoking Synthetic Marijuana has become a trend with the younger group, even teenagers, but just because it’s a trend like vaping is as well, doesn’t mean it’s ok or doesn’t come with any risks.

Synthetic Marijuana for the most part, is safe to smoke, but there comes risks for many people that have or do smoke it and it depends on numerous factors. Do you have an existing heart disease, mental disorders, high blood pressure, a history of suicidal or intrusive thoughts, and past trauma you’ve went through? How long and or often do you smoke it? Where are you getting the Synthetic Marijuana from? All of these factors go into the risks you take when you take a smoke of Synthetic Marijuana. The people who have mental disorders may experience symptoms after smoking Synthetic Marijuana such as panic attacks, anxiety attacks, paranoia, loss of reality, irritability, etc. They say Synthetic Marijuana has never killed someone, but what if it would contribute to a suicide? What if the person who smokes it has such a severe mental and psychological reaction that they kill themselves without even realizing what they’re doing.

Synthetic Marijuana is considered a “street drug” therefore it can alter your coherence, your understanding of what’s happening in front of you (distortion of reality), confusion, etc. With Synthetic Marijuana becoming legal to use, more and more people are going to begin using it without realizing the risks they’re taking. Synthetic Marijuana aka Cannabis contains mind-altering psychoactive compounds such as THC. There’s a lot of debate on how much THC is in Synthetic Marijuana and if there’s dangerous enough levels to damage you Psychologically. There’s people that believe there’s barely any THC in the Synthetic Marijuana they’re smoking and there’s people that believe that there’s a lot of THC. According to research, there’s 50-90% of THC in Synthetic Marijuana, but it also varies therefore the debate begins. THC does not belong in the body let alone the human mind. It’s called a mind-altering compound for a reason.

Synthetic Marijuana can also increase your heart rate to dangerous levels, leading to an increased risk of a heart attack, no matter how young or old you are, especially in people that already have existing heart issues. Also, if you ever feel your heart pounding through your ears or face, you’re in a dangerous place and would need to attempt to calm down immediately as that’s not a normal thing. Synthetic Marijuana can increase your blood pressure as well, which is what could lead up to a panic or anxiety attack and once again, put you at risk of a heart attack. It can make you “high”, which might feel good, but you can make some really risky and dangerous choices while you’re in that “high.” That’s just some of the short term effects, but the longer term effects are more concerning. Smoking Synthetic Marijuana can trigger what’s called Psychosis episodes, where you lose your touch and sense of reality around you. However, those Psychosis episodes could morph into a full blown Psychosis Disorder where you’d have to deal with these thoughts long after quitting Synthetic Marijuana or almost everytime you smoke it again. The correlation between Psychosis and Synthetic Marijuana is still being studied and it’s not 100% clear how Marijuana can trigger Psychosis. You could also deal with other long term developmental, psychological, mental, or behavioral problems and if you noticed your sexual activity was high when you were smoking Synthetic Marijuana or not long after smoking it, there’s a studied correlation between having more sex while using Synthetic Marijuana and that can also be risky because you could unintentionally get a girl pregnant.

Now, that’s the negative effects that Synthetic Marijuana could have on you, but not everyone experiences them or doesn’t right away. Let’s talk about the positive effects Synthetic Marijuana could have on you. Smoking Synthetic Marijuana could relax you, relieve you of your pain, anxiety, depression, etc and it can be a method to overcome obstacles in your life. You might feel chill and laugh a lot if you’re high. Laughter is good for mental health and other things. Synthetic Marijuana can be an Antidepressant as long as that doesn’t backfire. So all in all, Synthetic Marijuana is safe to use, but comes with many risks that we’re not aware of. If you’re going to use Synthetic Marijuana, use it carefully, responsibly, and safely as it’s not at all like it was a long time ago.
